How I Use AI Every Day as a Student Coder in 2025 (Free Tools Inside)

My Reality:

"AI is my greatest tool as a broke elementary school student studying to code in Pakistan. I lack money, time, and advanced degrees. But because of these free AI tools, I've developed my talents more quickly than I ever imagined.

You are most likely a student who wants to make money as soon as possible so u can achieve the dreams ur parents dreamed of, you want to fix things your way and make them right, don't you? That's what I think most of the time. But reality hits hard as a broke student from a country that has little future because of many issues, my dreams were dragged here and there. But I had dreams and wanted them fulfilled asap, but couldn't because no matter what you do, if you're broke and have so little money, you can't buy the expensive courses and get a certificate at that age or at that financial state. With not much to do, I realised AI tools can help me...So what if you don't have a good mentor? You can use that, that's even better because it's free, it knows its stuff, and it supports you no matter the problem.

The Reasons Behind the 2025 Struggle of Student Coders

Too many tutorials

Everyone thought that "We need to have a degree as a coder or something like that to land a good job", that's nonsense, and you know it. So many students even know they are struggling with code because of tutorials.

Not enough clarity

That's the biggest problem to face as a coder because u need to know what you're writing, but following a tutorial won't help. After all, you're basically copy-pasting what the person is doing, that's not coding, it's wasting time, it may be good when you just want to know your code. Nothing else happens except that. Or you do so many that now u remember the code that's extremely rare tbh.

Most resources are paid

AHH...this is the one I suffered most with, I thought there would actually be free courses available that could help me, but there's actually not. People say there are, but that's a bluff, free courses teach only basic things that u can access on YouTube or Google generally.

It's overwhelming

It's very overwhelming if you actually do code without the use of AI, it's basically impossible to complete the project without any errors... a lot of errors that is.

"That’s where AI saved me."

Five Ways I Utilise AI Each Day

My daily tutor, ChatGPT, fixes errors, explains JavaScript as if I were twelve, and helps me produce actual code quickly.

My coding partner, GitHub Copilot

    ➤ Writes repeated routines

➤ Makes code predictions as you type

✓ Instant web development environment

    ➤ AI code recommendations

    ➤ Replit + Ghostwriter

Google Bard or Claude

➤ Investigate and provide responses from various perspectives

This is very useful when doing research or my favourite coding

Canva, Notion AI, and Grammarly

    ➤ Blog writing

    ➤ Content planning

    ➤ Clear writing

The Actual Effect on My Life

As a student coder, I didn't get much time to waste because, as a student, I was also working as a content writer and had to study. So that's where AI came in handy!

Time was saved

I mean like, think about it as a coder, u had to write everything yourself and not to mention the errors we had to face. It was time-consuming and frustrating at the same time, that's where ChatGPT and other AI tools like Canva and GitHub. Copilot helped me so much to improve. Make sure to check it out

Saved cash.

Some people just like to spend their money like it's nothing on courses, but like me, some people don't have the luxury to do that, so that's where we, as broke students, have to compromise and adjust. FYI, using AI is not a bad thing; it's a good thing in so many ways.

Increased self-assurance

Using AI like I am right now for this blog makes u understand things better because, unlike a human, an AI can't come to you in person and guide you, it tells you the things you'll need to know, and the rest of the action is on you.

Saved me from tutorial hell.

AI definitely saved me from the hell of tutorials, watching one after the other. It teaches you things that 5 to 7 courses would teach you in like 2 days. It did this for me.

Call to Action (End)

You're playing this game on hard mode if you're learning to code in 2025 without the aid of AI. Try picking up one of these tools right now instead of just reading this. If you want more unvarnished tutorials like this one from a broke programmer working it out in public, subscribe or bookmark the page.
